INTRO

  • CAPACITOR BANK REQUIRED TO BE PROVIDED IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO ENSURE THAT THE POWER FACTOR WILL NOT DROP TO THE MINIMUM LEVEL THAT ALLOWED BY THE LOCAL ELECTRICITY PROVIDER.

  • IF THE POWER FACTOR DROP TO MUCH THE POWER KVA WILL BE INCREASE GREATLY. THIS CAN BE CALCULATED BY THE FOLLOWING FORMULA.
    P(KVA) = P(KW)/POWER FACTOR

  • CAPACITOR WAS USED TO MAINTAIN THE VOLTAGE VALUE IN THE SYSTEM AND ALSO TO MAINTAIN THE POER VAR WHICH IS IMPORTANT FOR POWER FACTOR CORRECTION AND TO AVOID LOSSES.

  • MOST REDUCTION OF THE POWER FACTOR WAS DUE TO THE STARTING OF THE BIG MOTOR i.e. LIFT, PUMPS ETC. SO THE CRITICAL AREA ARE REQUIRED POWER FACTOR CORRECTOIN AND CAPACITOR BANK.

  • THE CALCULATION ABOVE WAS GENERATED TO CALCULATE THE REQUIRED CAPACITOR BANK FOR THE SYSTEM, BREAKER SIZE FOR EACH CAPACITOR BANKI IN LINE, MAIN BREAKER SIZE FOR CAPACITOR BANK AND ARRANGEMENT OF STEP FOR POWER FACTOR REGULATOR TO STEP IN AND STEP OUT.

  2. POWER FACTOR TO CORRECT - THE POWER FACTOR THAT NEED TO CORRECT. WHICH IS TO BE ASSUME THAT THE MOST CRITICAL WHERE THE POWER FACTOR CAN DROP. POWER FACTOR RANGE WAS BETWEEN 0.00 TO 1.00.
  3. POWER FACTOR TO ACHIEVE - THE TARGET POWER FACTOR TO BE ACHIEVE AFTER CORRECTED. IN MALAYSIA, IF THE POWER FACTOR DROP LESS THAN 0.8 THE PENALTY WILL BE IMPOSED TO THE USER.
  4. CAP BANK VALUE IN 415V - THIS JUST THE VALUE THAT CALCULATED TO SHOW THE CAPACITOR BANK VALUE AT 415V
  5. CAPACITOR BANK VALUE IN 525V - THIS THE VALUE THAT NEED TO BE TAKE INTO ACCOUNT FOR THE DESIGN. THERE ARE ALSO CAPACITOR AT 440V IN THE MARKET. THE CALCULATION FOR RATING AT 440V WILL BE DEVELOP LATER.
  6. CAPACITOR BANK VALUE TO BE PROPOSED - THIS VALUE IS JUST A ROUND UP FIGURE THAT OBTAINED FROM THE CAB BANK VALUE CALCULATED IN 525V, THIS VALUE ALSO NEED TO BE SAME AS VALUE IN THE FINAL RESULT (WILL BE EXPLAIN LATER)
  7. CAP BANK STEP - THE STEPS THAT TO BE DESIGN FOR SELECTION OF THE POWER FACTOR REGULATOR (PFR). IT CAN BE EITHER 6 STEPS OR 12 STEPS.
  8. FIRST STEP OF CAP BANK - THE FIRST CAPACITOR BANK THAT TO BE THE FIRST CAPACITOR TO BE KICKED IN FOR POWER FACTOR CORRECTION. THE SELECTION OF THIS CAPACITOR VALUE IS IMPORTANT TO ENSURE THE CAPACITOR WILL KICK IN IF IT SENSE THE POWER FACTOR DROP AT THE LOWER LOAD. IF THE FIRST CAPACITOR WAS TOO BIG, THE CAPACITOR WONT BE KICK IN UNTIL THE LOAD THAT NEED TO BE CORRECTED ACHIEVE THE SPECIFIED FIRST CAPACITOR BANK.

How to used the Program



  1. This is the simplest calculation ever, the following info required to be obtained before the program can be generated.

  2. Type of TV Coaxial Cable (RG11/RG6)

  3. Type of splitter to be used (2W, 3W , 4W, 6W or 8W)
    Head end initial signal Strength (default can be 110dB)

  4. The length of the coaxial cable (in meter), the measurement to be from point to point.
    Type of outlet to be used. (Currently 3 way SAT/TV/FM outlet.

  5. The calculation will give estimated strength level (in dB) to ensure that the signal was as per your requirement.

  6. The Calculation was based on data that provided in IKUSI equipment.

How to used Voltage Drop Calculation Software


  1. TO INDICATE THE CIRCUIT FROM The column shall be indicate the name of the Board of the outgoing cable that need to calculate the voltage drop


  2. INDICATE THE CIRCUIT GOING TO
    The column shall be indicate the name of the board connected to the cable that need to calculate the voltage drop


  3. MAXIMUM DEMAND
    Maximum demand or the desired power in kW.


  4. SPARE LOAD PER CIRCUIT
    Enter the desired spare power particularly used for sizing the incoming breaker where usually sized for 1.2 times the maximum demand current or if any spare capacity is required.The total power used for the calculation will be the MD power + spare kW.


  5. VOLTAGE APPLIED The voltage that supplied to the system / circuit (currently this software only support 415V)


  6. PHASES The system current supply (currently this software only support three phase). So enter ‘3’ in this column.


  7. POWER FACTOR
    - The system power factor as Authorities provider (default 0.85)
    - For generator set supply shall be 0.8


  8. CABLE LENGTH
    - The distance (in meter) from the incoming board to outgoing board


  9. SET VOLTAGE DROP (%)
    - Set the desired limit of maximum voltage drop for the cable in percentage.
    - The set of voltage drop (the whole system shall be not more than 4% for the particular circuit
